Answering your Michigan State Football Questions and Emails…

Hondo, is there any concern on your end about our lack of depth behind our Junior and Senior WRs? I could be wrong, but it looks like we have 8 WRs on roster and 7 are going to be upper classmen – that’s a red flag to me when you look at our commits in the upcoming class and see not a single WR on the list. Thanks again, Josh Wahlstrom

Not at all. Monty Madaris and A.J. Troup are studs if both return from injury and R.J. Shelton can play out there and Trey Kilgore.  They have the talent to make the Spartans offensive prominence grow for young wide outs. Not worried at all.  Also remember the name Matt Macksood.  Has a work ethic like Blair White, a super kid and has some tools.

Hondo, do you think there is any shot Damion Terry wins the job from Cook next year? Is Cook solid? Curtis Pry

I think he has a very long shot. You are talking about a young man who is 12-1 as a starter and just took the team to a Rose Bowl victory.

Hi Hondo, I hope you are doing well and had a great Christmas. My question is what do you think our starting offensive line will be in August 2014? William Owens

I am well. Thanks for asking. Too early to tell. C Jack Allen, T Jack Conklin, and G Travis Jackson are locks. I also think Connor Kruse will be the other G so that battle will come for the other T. Kodi Keiler has got a lot of love from the coaches and we know about Donovan Clark. MSU has some great coaching on the OL and a JC (Junior College) transfer coming in. This will be a battle all off season and a ton of fun for those of us that love the Big Uglies.

I received over 100 emails about the next subject. They were split two thirds to one third so I picked two one way and one another to show the emotion you people are feeling about MSU and their embracing of Rich Homie Quan the rapper. I am not saying what way I stand. I am voicing both sides in proportion to how you responded to me.

Hondo, am I the only one that was bothered by Rich Homie Quan sharing the national stage with the Spartans? It seems to me a double standard to praise the moral/religious/faith based standards of our coaches while at the same time they attach themselves to a gangsta rapper with explicit lyrics. No to Jay Harris but ok to Rich Homie Quan? Eric Wiels

Hondo, I don’t understand we don’t take a recruit because of his explicit rap lyrics, but we have a rapper up on stage celebrating with our players and getting props from our head coach who has a checkered past and lyrics that would make a sailor blush? Randy

Hondo, I am sick of all the old prudes mad at Rich Homie Quan repping us at the bowl. It is great for recruiting and it makes us hip again. Shawn

Hondo every year we hear about players having surgery or rehabbing? Any surgeries so far? Maureen

Yes. Mike Sadler had one today on the same knee he injured last year. It was successful.

Hondo, why don’t we msu get more respect? Rick Hempel

Respect is earned. The Dantonio era has earned it, but for decades MSU did not. It is coming, and unlike some other places that get it for the past and not the present, when it arrives in the Spartan Nation it will be earned.

Hondo, can you tell me your all MSU team on defense? Paul Prene

DE Bubba Smith

DE Robaire Smith

DT Ron Curl

DT Patrick Gallinagh

LB Ron Goovert

LB Percy Snow

LB Carl Banks/Dan Bass

S Brad Van Pelt/Allen Brenner

S George Webster

CB Darqueze Dennard

CB Harlon Barnett

Hondo, I was wondering what you think MSU should be rated when next season starts? Carol

Top Five.

Hondo, I just hate you. Everything about you. I just wanted to say that as much as I hate your guts I thought your Tweet about Doug Nussmeier the new UM OC was classy. Thanks for saying something nice about our new guy. You and the Sparties still suck. The tide turns this year. Web

You are right. The Tide did turn. They didn’t win another title and got a new OC. I do, however, want to congratulate Michigan for once again winning the off season national title. What is that? 22 years in a row? As for the Spartan Nation, we’ll suffer with winning Rose Bowls and actually attending B1G Championship games and beating you in the regular season. What is it? Five of the last six? See you in East Lansing in 287 days. By the way, Doug was a great hire and is a super coach and person.

There you go everyone. That is this week’s question and answer article. If you have a question never hesitate to email at and put in the subject line FB Q/A

What role will Damien terry play for the spartan offense?

Not sure either.. After Cook’s year you can not say he is not the starter.. BUT I also hear that Terry is a stud athlete so if that is true i hope they find a way to get him on the field. Hope the guy does not transfer.

First I loved your response to the nasty comments from Web, what an idiot. Second agree with your all- MSU defense although Webster was no safety but a great linebacker….and Rich Saul deserved some mention as well.

As much as we love the emergence of Conner Cook…and we were a family who thought he should have started from day one after his bowl performance lst year, how does coach D keep Terry off the field and not lose a great athlete? Does the offense go to 2 quarterback platooning?

Yeah, regarding the Quan thing, I don’t get it either. I think going overboard involving him sheds a bad light on our program.
