If guys leave after this year, I'd be concerned that there was an incoming class of 0. If none, or maybe 1 does, I'd expect the 2014 class could be the best pickens maybe of Izzo's era.

Remember how much easier it was for Coach K to get top end kids in his 2nd 10 years, Izzo seems to be on that path too

I should also add I'm not worried about recruiting and UM. they've picked it up since Bacari Alexander joined the staff, but don't forget the 2014 and 15 classes are stacked, will have plenty of ships open. but again, that's next year's problem.

we could lose some underclassmen, but hopefully they don't pull a Marcus Taylor. Being projected is different than being ready. I hope they understand the difference.

that being said, why worry about next year? We are having a great season and the potential of a title is real.

so worst case scenario, those 4 are gone, are we simply left without replacements? as much as I'm sure dawson, payne and harris have the type of loyalty typical of a spartan, I think if it's in their best interest to bounce, they'd do it and I would support it. but, no rumors of transfers, 5th-year seniors, prior commitment defectors or the like?

I guess that leads to my follow-up question: even if those 3 don't declare for the draft, anyone else concerned with future spartan recruitment? for 2013 we've essentially been left in the lurch, couldn't secure talent in our own backyard (young), UM's getting some good talent recently and is experiencing success. is the recruiting landscape changing for us, or, dare i say it, beginning to favor UM?

That's the great question that's coming. I don't think any of them should declare, short of a Dance run to Atlanta. If they do, I think we'll see another set of early entry mistakes. All 3 have more to gain by returning next year than they do by jetting to the NBA, including overall career earnings, the way it looks right now.

Tuesday night was disappointing, and I'm not giving up on the season, but looking forward we have no recruits next year - either committed or prospective. We aren't exactly all that deep this year either. While Nix is the only guaranteed non-returning player, Harris could go late first round and Payne has shown (especially last night) that he can be as much a versatile scorer as he is a blocker. I might even go as far as to say Dawson could leave early too. That would leave ten returning players and only a handful of whom with skills at a level we've come to expect as MSU fans. That begs the question, does Izzo have a trick up his sleeve, or at least a solution for next year's lack of depth?
