East Lansing, MI

The Michigan State basketball parade of alphabet soups game continued here at the Breslin tonight.  The outcome was never in doubt, but the final score was.  For those that care it was 76 to 44 and of course it was in the Spartans favor.

From the moment both teams stepped on the court for warm ups it was clear it was over.  The Golden Lions players looked in awe of the Spartans and they happily obliged their gawkers.  At one point the handful of Pine Bluff parents even joined in with the Izzone on their chants and cheers.

The Spartans have been prone to start slow this year, and that continued.  They had 19 turnovers on the game.  That didn’t please their head coach.

Even with the slow start the Spartans jumped out to a 14-0 early lead.  It took almost ten minutes for Arkansas Pine Bluff to even score.  With that the Spartans led 38-12 at the half and the only reason APB had double digits was a late three pointer.

I will spare you from any more details.  This game made the Globetrotters vs.  Washington Generals look competitive.

Izzo said of his team taking care of business and burying the Golden Lions that, “Wasn’t pleased with the game at all.  There were moments we moved the ball well…but a lot of moments when what we did was not acceptable at all. One of our worst performances of the year.”

Coach George Ivory from Arkansas Pine Bluff said of the Spartans, “I think they are a great team.  There so big and talented on the inside I don’t think we matched up well with them.”

The Spartans return to action on Saturday at 2 PM against Loyola Chicago.  That game can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
