Your Michigan State Spartans entered today’s regular season game with Nicholls State with a 5-2 record. There was NO DOUBT that they would leave 6-2. The only question was the final score and that was, 84-39.
Nicholls State could be arrested for impersonating a college basketball team. They are terrible. Add to that they play the old Bobby Knight offense and unless it is a layup they don’t shoot before ten seconds remain on the shot clock. Yes, it was that brutal.
So MSU wins another alphabet soup game, but more importantly it is another practice for the Spartans. 11 players played in the first half and 13 for the entire game. What could Izzo’s team get from this?
Izzo said about the game, “Hard to evaluate that game. We needed a game like this. The negative stat was the 13 of 23 from the line. You could at least say we took a small step forward with a lot of steps to go.”
The Spartans next alphabet soup game comes Wednesday as Arkansas Pine Bluff comes to town for a 8P.M. game that you can see on the Big Ten Network. In case you are wondering the Spartans will improve to 7-2. We just don’t know the score.
