Derrick Nix is the only senior on the Spartans 2013 roster and Tuesday he put that in jeopardy. According to the 54-B District Court he was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and possession of marijuana.

He must appear in court between four and ten days so he can be arraigned on these charges. Operating with the presence of drugs has a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail, and marijuana possession has a maximum penalty of one year in jail.

Spartan Head Coach Tom Izzo released this statement: “Based on the information we have received, Derrick Nix has been suspended indefinitely from our basketball team, and his future with our program is uncertain. He made an irresponsible decision that has put his future with our program in serious jeopardy.”
