Breaking News from Spartan Nation:  Pat Narduzzi & his wife flew to Texas A&M last night.  Had three-hour dinner and are touring city and facilities today.  His offer from Texas A & M will start at $600K per year and could go as high as $750K.  Doubt a decision today before Monday for sure.  Narduzzi makes roughly $240K at MSU.  He didn’t get a raise after a B1G championship last season and has a delayed raise coming in February that would take his pay to roughly $305K.  That would bring his pay up to the Minnesota/Indiana range.  Approximately 6-8th in the Big Ten.  More details as we can report.

Texas Economy > Michigan Economy at this time; therefore $$$ For Public Schools is greater in Texas; therefore we have more money to throw around.

Good for us, bad for y’all, no hard feelings I hope.

He did a great job with MSU, hope he can keep doing it at A&M. Best of luck to the MSU fans and if he does come to Aggieland, I hope you all get a good replacement. Good luck in the future and like the poster before me said, “no hard feelings I hope.”

It’d be a tough pill to swallow.

Losing the top DC in the B1G because our school can’t get its head out of its butt and stop meddling / playing power games, with the athletic department.

If we can’t compensate him, we don’t deserve him and I wish him much success wherever he goes.

I agree. Heck with the new scoreboards. Pay them what they deserve.

No one wants a Defense like Minnesota or Indiana!

I have a check for $100 ready to drop in the mail for the MSU Libraries (3rd donation this yr, I hope they stop calling me)

I won’t put it in the mail unless LAKS and the board of trustees step up and do the right thing. Pay that man (and the rest of the assistants)

As a alumni, i have suffered through the Bobby Williams era, John L. Smith era and now when coaches have proven their worthy the adminstration does not want to pay them…. This is UNACCEPTABLE!! If Dantonio and Narduzzi don;t get paid I feel like this admistration has FAILED me!!! If MSU wants to be releveant in football we gotta start paying talent!!!

    • Roger January 5, 2012 at 3:55 pm #

I agree, But this cheaping out goes back a lot father back than Smith and Williams….

Sparty wants to be on top than act like its important! He’s like gone! Why would he stay?

      “SHOW ME THE MONEY”

If you want to keep making money, getting the donations, and winning you have to pay your coaches… This is a side ways move that makes state look really bad and kills recruiting.

    Pay the man to stay!

  7. Miichael January 5, 2012 at 4:32 pm #

I read in the paper..just last Sat. And I quote”I am not leaving….until the head coaching job of my dreams comes along!..I love MSU!” Now …….you tell me just what that means!…If that worthless board of trustees does not get off their perch..and start paying the people that make them money what they deserve….we are NEVER going back to the Rose Bowl!!! the Wolve’s can shell out 800,000 for a DC! Wake up you idiots!!!!!!!!!!! Magic and Tom did not give you a million dollars apiece for you to put in your pockets!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake the F–k up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MSU needs to make Hollis among the highest paid ADs in the country-he deserves it. His hires have been top notch for a school that has been an ‘inconsistent’ winner in football, and has come up with some of the most innovative promotional ideas in the country.

MSU needs to pay its football coaches more as well, and it is pathetic that they are among the lowest paid in the Big 10. I don’t know where MSU spends its state money nor its tuition dollars, but whether it is mis-allocated or simply insufficient, the situation has to be remedied.

Excellence needs to be rewarded or talent goes elsewhere. Loyalty is great, but deserves to be compensated and to not pay market value for these talented people is really to show that they are not valued. Talent goes where it is wanted.

I love PAT NARDUZZI as DC always have. He is a living Legacy to the Spartan Nation as well as to the Game. Spartans are Grateful for the Glory that PAT NARDUZZI has brought back to the Spartan Nation. I know this Spartan is.

If you want to have a top 5 defense, you have to pay what the market is willing to pay! Or else….! This man (with coach D) has given us the best we could hope for, and for several years with improvements every year!!. His performance is known, he has proven he can deliver!! Give him the money!! He is worth 50 times the $300k additional we should give him!! ……………………………………………………………………..(Note: I am currently an MSU Alum donation coordinator at a multi-bil $$ corp, bringing in 5-6 digits of donations every year, and I can tell you keeping Narduzzi will help improve donations going forward for sure. And visa-versa.).

Too much coffee, sorry….but…if Simon/Hollis are the ones making the pay increase decision, I would gladly whip out some ROI and NPV calcs to show with numbers why this is a no-brainer decision. I also forgot to say that my company matches employee and retiree donations…

All I have to say is; when we won the basketball NC in 2000 applications for admission went up astronomically the next year. How is that not enough reason to put more money into the athletic dept. to keep our good coaches? More applications means you can be pickier, have smarter kids, better research and everything else that goes along with it. Pay the good people or continue to look like a second rate institution.

It is time for MSU to truly go GREEN. We are sitting on top of the Big Ten in both football and basketball. If the Spartans let Pat go to Texas A and M, Mark might as well be looking for a new job also. This is the time for MSU stay ahead of the University of Michigan and show some class.

    GO GREEN $$$
